Is Premiere Better Than FCPX?
Final Cut Pro 7 was the industry standard editor since it came out. Walk into any profesional studio / editing business and you will certaintly see macs, and on those odds are there will be FCP7. If you wanted to go into this business you where going to need to know how to use it. But since that great software things have evolved. Premier Pro has went from something thought to be as bad as windows movie maker, all the way to being the next big thing. I started out learning FCPX, and i didnt know anything else. I thought it was great, i made great edits, and everything i put out looked pretty profesional! Of course at that time I knew nothing else, except iMovie, and Windows movie maker. I used FCPX for a while, and after all of these articles on the internet screaming in your face telling you that is SUCKS!!! i decided why not give Premiere a try. At first, I Hated it. Of course i didnt know how to use it, but i tried to put that aside, I followed a few tutorials here and there but i never really got into it! I havent been editing for a while so i decided for my next short film I was going to try Premiere. From My POV, yes in many ways Premere is better than FCPX, but describe better. You can't call one more profesional than the other. I think that FCPX was very easy to learn, compared to other big time editors, and I also think it was much better rounded including basic color correction and audio editing built in. It also has a massive effects library, most of which can be completed in other editors, but most people can't afford to own every adobe product. I found it was much easier to learn FCPX, it very simlple, which is most likely why people where calling it less professional. Just because was easy to learn doesn't mean its any less advanced. I admire its simplicity and think that anyone who does not plan on going to a profesional studio should go ahead and learn it! As for people who already owned FCP7 and upgraded as soon as it came out you will have an easy time learning it. As for the original question of Premiere vs FCPX the answer is open. One is not better than the other although they both excel in a lot of points. In final no Premiere is not better than FCPX and FCPX is not better than Premiere, it all depends on which one you wanted to learn first.
